My older son is a die-hard Star Trek fan. I'm also a bit of a fan, myself. He and my d-i-l went Thursday night to see it on IMAX. They have raved about it ever since. So, the rest of the family and I are going this Wed night to see it. I can't wait!

Same here, bro. Looks awesome. It has an amazing cast. I've never watched Star Trek but the trailer blew me away. Now off to find me some moviecompany...the missus doesn't like scifi at all, hehe.

Here in the USA, the movie did $76.5 million for the opening weekend - which put it at the #1 spot for movies.

damn it looks absolutely disgusting from the tv ads i've seen. they know they have an fan base of geeks they will cash in on naturally but they are trying to make it seem like some young hip thing to attract the under 40 crowd and i don't think it will work, i think this will prove that star trek is a dead franchise.

why can't hollywood just come up with something new? i guess it's too expensive to pay writers for original ideas when they can re-hash some old bullshit that's still under copyright and dress is up with cg so they only have pay a handful actors on a single green screen soundstage for more than a few hours and let the computers do all the work. do they pass that savings on to the movie-goers and dvd purchasers, hell fuck no they don't and they never, ever will!...

i think i'll pass...
