Computex is without a doubt one of the biggest computer events in the
world. Unlike CES and Cebit, Computex is based in Asia, in a city which
I like to call the Hi-Tech Capitol of the World. As you probably have
already guessed, I am talking about Taipei, which is located in Taiwan.
Every year, people flock to this City to see the latest offers from all
the well-known companies. So I packed my bags, booked my flight and
hotel, and here I am in Taipei. Unfortunately, I had a slight detour,
stopping in Amsterdam, (the best city out there) and Bangkok along the
way. I arrived in Taipei on the 4th of June, in the evening. I thought
it was going to be cold here because of the weather reports, but it's
really quite hot. I went to sleep earlier than usual, due to Jetlag and
exhaustion. On the 5th of June, one day before Computex, I was
pondering what to do, and I easily found my answer. I should go to
Computex and see how things are coming along. Of course, I will also do
what I do best, causing trouble and chasing after models. When I
arrived, I noticed everyone working hard to get ready for the event,
still in the preparation phase. All the paths were full of dirt and
garbage from the participants, as you can see below...
When you have so much trash around, you will need some organized
special unit to take care of it, which in this case happens to be some
fellows from TAITRA and TCA (The organizers of Computex) and they are
already taking care of it.
The first thing I did was find Nvidia's booth because they have been
working on the GeForce 7590GX2 launch. After a few minutes of
searching, I spotted their booth. But I couldn't find any of my
notorious "Wanted" posters there! Maybe I came too early, or they just
forgot to put them up. I bet they already have a restraining order
against me, as well as some other members of the press. On a more
serious note, they were still working on their booth. Even their models
were not ready to dress up in their unique uniforms yet, as you can see
below.
At this point, we couldn't find anything special in Nvidia's booth
except their models, so we will have to wait and see what Nvidia has
planned for us tomorrow. I bet we are going to see a lot of 7950GX2
cards. Speaking of models, that just gave me a great idea! We will
issue an "Editor's Choice" award to the best model, or maybe even use
our "Best bang for the buck award" (I see the flames coming).
*Ahem* Now let's head to the next page. | | | ( 1 | 2 | 3 | 4 ) | | |
