Introduction:
nVidia has recently released the new 7800GTX. This new top of the line
video card delivers great performance but unfortunately not everyone
can afford one. Most users today still dont even have a
PCIe slot. We searched for an AGP card that can deliver the goods and
doesnt hurt the pockets. Thats when the ASUS
Geforce 6600GT TOP entered the picture. ASUSs products are known
worldwide for their high quality and performance. In this article you
will discover how to benefit from their performance without breaking
the bank.
The standard Geforce 6600 GT core is clocked at 500 MHz and the memory
is clocked at 450 MHz (900 MHz effectively). The Asus 6600GT TOP comes
pushing higher speeds right out of the box. The 6600GT uses 1.6ns DDR3
memory modules clocked at 550 (1100MHz effectively) and the core is
clocked at 520MHz. With the speeds that ASUS has applied
(520/550) the
memory bandwidth reaches 17.7 Gb/sec and the fillrate 4.16 Giga
pixels/sec. Rather impressive numbers indeed. Delivers unmatched video performance, features, and quality. CineFX
3.0 and Shader Model 3.0
With the increased horsepower provided by the CineFX 3.0 engine,
developers can create more unique game features and effects than ever
before. New effects include subsurface scattering, providing depth and
realistic translucence to skin and other surfaces; soft shadows for
sophisticated lighting effects; accurately represented environmental
and ground shadows; and global illumination for incredibly
photorealistic lighting. All of these effects can be combined to create
intricate, detailed, true-to-life scenes that completely immerse you in
the game environment. Infinite length shader programs With CineFX 3.0 there are no hardware-imposed limitations on shader
programs. The technology and speed advancements of CineFX 3.0 ensure
that longer programs will run blazingly fast. Dynamic flow control Additional looping/branching options and new subroutine call/return
functions give programmers even more choices for writing efficient
shader programs. Displacement mapping CineFX
3.0 allows vertex processing with textures, providing a new level of
depth and realism to every component, surface, and character in a
scene. Displacement mapping allows developers to make subtle changes in
a models geometry with very little computational cost. Vertex frequency stream divider Effects can be efficiently applied to multiple characters or objects in
a scene, providing individuality where models are otherwise identical. Multiple Render Target (MRT)
technology MRTs allow for deferred shading, a technique where
the lighting of a scene can be done after rendering all of the
geometry, eliminating multiple passes through the scene. Photorealistic
lighting can be created while avoiding unnecessary processing time for
pixels that do not contribute to the visible portions of an image. NVIDIA Pure Video
High-Definition Video: NVIDIA PureVideo technology finally allows you
to experience lifelike HD-DVD playback on your PC, notebook, or HDTV
without the expense of additional home-theatre devices. With dedicated
hardware to accelerate MPEG-2/DVD as well as the new Microsoft®
Windows
Media® HD Video (WMV HD) standard, your DVDs come to life in detail
never before possible on a PC. Using NVIDIA PureVideo technology, the
GPU offloads video decoding from the CPU, resulting in smooth,
stutter-free, high-definition video playback. And, since PureVideo
supports most current and future HD formats, you can rest assured that
a PC powered by PureVideo will keep up with the pace of
tomorrows
video technologies, and continue to deliver HD content well into the
future. The Package - ASUS N6600GT Card
